Week 7

To remain responsive instead of braced, what we attend to shapes us.

So today, I’m helping you to break my class-design down. You're gonna realise how there is organization thorugh out my class-design, how to attend to breath, attend to detail, attend to understanding the sequence, attend to what's opening. And this is where it all becomes art. Not the class-design itself, I am talking about you!

Artistic expression doesn't come from doing more, it comes from inhabiting the body more fully. You're gonna reach this primal level of artistic expression through my class-designs, you're gonna see every detail where you are resisting and where you are expressing already what’s within you.

In the last three moves: when the hips have access, when the heart is open, and when the nervous system isn't no longer guarding, but the choreography suddenly reveals dimensions that were always there within you, but unavailable to you before this workout. This is why artists benefit so deeply from movement — and especially this kind of class-design sequences where we go places that are easily forgotten and avoided in many other workouts.

Art requires sensitivity, adaptability, full range responsiveness. Embodiment of your own body and skin gives you access to nuance. Nuance gives you range. Range gives personal choreography and this choreography gives you meaning, which also gives you results!!! (shape, tone and defined waist and lines in legs).

So every week I ask you to approach the work as an act of expression, not as morning execution. Let each of my class-design be curious, and see how far you can go.
